چکیده

Stochastic processes with multiplicative noise have been studied independently in several different contexts over the past decades. We focus on the regime, found for a generic set of control parameters, in which stochastic processes with multiplicative noise produce intermittency of a special kind, characterized by a power law probability density distribution. We present a review of applications, highlight the common physical mechanism and summarize the main known results. The distribution and statistical properties of the duration of intermittent bursts are also characterized in details.

Lyapunov functionals for boundary-driven nonlinear drift–diffusion equations

We exhibit a large class of Lyapunov functionals for nonlinear drift–diffusion equations with non-homogeneous Dirichlet boundary conditions. These are generalizations of large deviation functionals for underlying stochastic manyparticle systems, the zero-range process and the Ginzburg–Landau dynamics, which we describe briefly. We prove, as an application, linear inequalities between such an en...

Fractal Hamilton-Jacobi-KPZ equations

Nonlinear and nonlinear evolution equations of the form ut = Lu ± |∇u| q, where L is a pseudodifferential operator representing the infinitesimal generator of a Lévy stochastic process, have been derived as models for growing interfaces in the case when the continuous Brownian diffusion surface transport is augmented by a random hopping mechanism. The goal of this paper is to study properties o...

TITLE PAGE Fractal scale-invariant and nonlinear properties of cardiac dynamics remain stable with advanced age: A new mechanistic picture of cardiac control in healthy elderly Fractal and nonlinear stability of cardiac dynamics with aging

BackgroundHeartbeat fluctuations exhibit temporal structure with robust long-range correlations, fractal and nonlinear features, which have been found to break down with pathologic conditions, reflecting changes in the mechanism of neuroautonomic control. It has been hypothesized that these features change and even break down also with advanced age, suggesting fundamental alterations in cardiac...

Introduction: Graph theoretical analysis of functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) data has provided new measures of mapping human brain in vivo. Of all methods to measure the functional connectivity between regions, Linear Correlation (LC) calculation of activity time series of the brain regions as a linear measure is considered the most ubiquitous one. The strength of the dependence obl...

Adaptive neural network control of bilateral teleoperation with unsymmetrical stochastic delays and unmodeled dynamics

In this paper, adaptive NN control is proposed for bilateral teleoperation system with dynamic uncertainties, unknown external disturbances, and unsymmetrical stochastic delays in communication channel to achieve transparency and robust stability. Compared with previous passivity-based teleoperation framework, the communication delays are unsymmetrical and stochastic. By partial feedback linear...
